Isaiah 9:6(NKJV): For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Consider this list of descriptions of our Jesus...
Wonderful...
Counselor...
Mighty God...
Everlasting Father...
Prince of Peace...
Each one magnificent in its own right, but taken together they paint a portrait of the Second Person of the Godhead which surpasses our ability to take in...
He is the source of all creation, yet He was given to us, came into His own creation FOR us; He is the Son, and yet, He is the Everlasting Father; He is the Son of man, and yet He is the Mighty God; He is Wonderful, yet was despised and rejected of men; He is the Counselor, yet promised to send the counselor to us when He left; He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the blood stained warrior who returns to punish all wickedness, and yet, He is the Prince of Peace... how do all of these apparent contradictions exist in this One perfect and glorious being? They exist because He is God, infinite, awesome, and beyond all human understanding. They exist because He is more than we can ever see, comprehend, or grasp... because He fills all need, answers all lack, and sustains all that is within the single act of His omnipotent will... these things should drive us to our knees in worship, they should lift us to the heights in praise and they should fill our hearts with awe and love for this One who is ALL things for us, and who freely chose to love us even in the midst of our hatred toward Him. Praise the wonderful name of Jesus, dear child, praise the Name above all names!!
