“Why not say, as some slanderously claim that we say, ‘Let us do evil that good may result?’ Their condemnation is just!” Vs9
Anyone who says, “Let us do evil that good may come,” is of the Devil. This is a lie of satanic proportions, an offence to the gospel, and TOTALLY contrary to what Paul says. There is no truth to it. There is no gospel that says, “Sin that grace might abound,” or even, “Don’t worry about your sin,” because Christ has died. It is false notion of soon to be damned souls. It has no truth.
1 Justification by faith means that we live by faith: It is not a momentary act, but we live believing God, and it bears fruit [Rom 1:17]. The gospel is the POWER OF GOD whereby He saves us, and that salvation includes sanctification and repentance [Rom 1:16].
We come to Him as we are, and He makes us what we could never be. He cleanses from sin, enables the bowed down to walk uprightly, and He heals the stench of wickedness. We wrestle, and we cry out, “Oh wretched man that I am,” but we are not what we once were [Rom 7:24].
Paul says elsewhere, “And some of you used to be like this.” We were liars, thieves, drunkards, and sodomites. We were sexually immoral and unbelieving, “But you washed yourself, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God [1 Cor 6:11].” The Spirit gave us power that we do not have, and He worked the change.
2 God’s not bound to the limits of our flesh, but His supernatural power delivers us. He doesn’t leave us, but justifying faith ALWAYS comes with sanctifying influence. Everyone He makes righteous, He also makes righteous inwardly, even as, “Righteous Lot vexed his righteous soul.” “For that righteous man dwelling, among them, day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul, through seeing and hearing their lawless deeds [2 Pet 2:8].” He was not imputed with righteousness only, but he lived to the glory of God, who delivered him out of temptations [2 Pet 2:9]. Lot did not look back, but he followed the Son. He believed unto perseverance.
Do not be deceived here. Do not use the sins of others - people He’s chastened like Lot and David - to excuse your sin, but let us be warned. Let us fear the rod and confess our sins. Let us depend on His mercy.
3 The gospel is not only about changing your position but your whole character. One day, He will change us to the glorious liberty of the sons of God, where every thought will be freedom, and there will be no more sin, no more rebellion, and no more warfare... but all will be peace, enjoyment, and full submission [Rom 8:21]. There’ll be no more DENYING ungodliness and worldly lusts. There’ll be no more fear, no more danger, and no more stumbling. That day is coming, and we look forward to it [Rev 21:27]. Until then, we labor and work, while it is day. Until then, we preach the gospel, suffer, and sacrifice. Until then, we live for Him down here.
The sinner says, “Christ has died, now give me my sin.” He’s never been born again or obtained the inheritance. He has no holiness and no hate for what God hates. “O you who love the LORD, hate evil [Ps 97:10]!” The sinner returns to his vomit after hearing the gospel so clearly.
→ Do not let this be you! Do not mistreat and mangle the gospel so grotesquely. Their damnation is just who do.
