Welcome to the new Renovations Blog! We will be using this to keep everyone up-to-date on the latest renovations news, so you know what is going on and what to expect.
The Deacons have been working really hard to meet the deadline of May 1 to start demolition of the First Floor Restrooms. We didn't quite make our deadline, but we will be done this Saturday, May 12. That next week, demolition is scheduled, barring anything unforeseen.
We had lots of help from volunteers in our rush to complete the new infant nursery (Room 206). We removed paneling, only to find the walls to be in very bad shape. About 15 or 20 gallons of joint compound got the rooms looking much better. It is ready for carpeting to be installed on Wednesday.
On Saturday, once we move the nursery upstairs, Liz will move into the old nursery. Since we are expanding the restrooms, some of Liz's office will be used for the new space. Some of us will be figuring out how to get a phone line into the new office and how to get the security camera moved upstairs -- quite a challenge with all the concrete!
With our main restrooms out-of-commission, we are almost ready with the Fellowship Hall restrooms. Both ladies' and men's rooms will have room for two. (Men make sure to watch your head!) The Second Floor Restrooms have been touched up and will have new toilets and vanities installed soon. For any that are physically-disabled, we are planning on having a portable toilet in the front until we get the First Floor complete. We were hoping for a nice looking model, but we are sad to report that handicap models are limited to one choice.
