We are dealing with the heart of the 2nd table of the law and the concept of the neighbor comes to the fore. We deal with the relationship to each other and our neighbor even in the world! 2 Things we need to remember:

1. The keeping of the commandments is fundamental as we love GOD.

2. When love of neighbor is discussed we deal with the love of GOD in Christ Jesus and not filial love.

We cab talk about the social ills prevalent today. The abortions that takes place, murder and crimes all around us, but this Lord's day drives us to the CORE of ALL these things, bringing us to scripture and telling us these things are a matter of nature...the old man and the reprobate mind. The old man is one of hatred and is a murderous nature. Those under the flesh cannot please God! All these things are of HATRED. It is the root of it all. We too struggle and are very guilty of these things with the absence of love, patience, peace, meekness, kindness, and preventing the others hurt as much as we can.

But how can the 6th commandment be kept. It is possible. The world deals with ills by "rehabilitation" but to no avail. Outward dealings NEVER pluck up the root! It is a matter of the heart and requires radical spiritual surgery to pluck out the root of hatred! Correction outwardly only is still a violation of the 6th commandment. Love must be VERTICAL! It is our old human nature that Christ took and nailed to the cross giving us a new beginning in Christ. We confess our guilt, but in Christ are able to begin to live in each of His commandments (conversion and doing a complete U turn!) We love our neighbor as ourselves and our enemies, crucifying the old man of the flesh.
