It is this coming conflagration in the Middle East that is the focus of the prophecies of the “witnesses” in our generation. Jesus has already come, in their thinking. What is next, is judgment and destruction, during which time, only Jehovah’s Witnesses will be spared, and allowed to live on into the coming world, with Jesus as King. And in their thinking, the churches will be destroyed first.

What does the Word say?

Matthew 24:34. “…this generation will not pass away until all these things take place…”

Q. What generation was Jesus talking about in Matthew 24:34?

JWA. Anyone who sees the events signaling the End, will see the battle of Armageddon.

Q. That’s reasonable enough. Have Witnesses always looked at things that way?

JWA. What do you mean?

CA: I mean that until 1995 the Awake periodical, with full authority from the “Governing Body” was declaring that this verse meant the persons who saw the events that took place in 1914, would not die before that famous Battle occurred. From 1914 until 1995 is a long time, and it was getting longer every day. So in 1995, the Watch Tower bunch decided they probably better change that wording. So quietly, without explanation, the interpretation you just gave showed up in the Awake.

More than one problem here.

The “evolution” of doctrine in an organization that claims to receive revelation from God is one. God does not change. His Word is still the same today as ever, and men need to stop changing it.
