"The Christian's Life View" Psalm 37:1-7/ Psalm 73

From time to time and in the many things that affect our lives my thoughts turned here. A colleague had cancer and had a leg amputated, a little girl had successful surgery, and many things take hold of us as families that affect us and keep us up at night. And we ask why? Why must we walk on one leg when others and the world around us walk on two? We almost approach God and ask why us Lord? Why must we experience these things as the world goes by us seemingly unscathed? Asaph says "Oh no!" We need to turn to the Word of God to hear the truth instead of judging by appearances only as we often times do. To have God's care is EVERYTHING!

There is a temptation. Notice 3 things in this passage of scripture. Don't fret, trust in the Lord, and rest in the Lord! These Psalms are written in the same vein. Written when in distress...they are distraught. Asaph is very outspoken about the wicked who seem unaffected even as they put their finger on God and His people. He walks the straight and narrow path and is plagued, seeing the world, as he seems to have no peace and wonder if it is all for nothing. We begin to be discouraged and the gnawing is in my soul and we too need a dose of reality here and now....

We find comfort in church but more importantly we find the truth about God, about His providence, and His care over us. And perspective takes shape. Others are "fattened up" and it will all stop very soon when the Lord takes them out of the world. Sometimes we are so negative in regards to the things in the world. But know, God will give recompense and "straighten out" and He already has. And God loves US! We are the apple of His eye! Let the truth of the cross sink in as you stand before it to see the very depth of it! And NEVER doubt it! As earthly parents give their children good gifts won't God lead and guide and take me?! Yes...He even leads me into surgery! Not even a hair except it is HIS WILL! When the world prospers and the bottom falls out of our life this IS the TRUTH! God does EVERYTHING!

"Delight yourself in the Lord." Not just when the wind is in our sails. Embrace God in everything you do and in the certain way that He leads you to glory! Commit your way to the Lord. In His way we must commit and you take the burdens and the "monkey on your back" and cast him on the Lord. "Dwell in the land and you will be fed!!!" Dwell as citizens and doing the will of God, walking in HIS WAY without compromise and things will go well. So often we cheat the Lord, the Lord's Day, and compromise so things will go just a little better? A little easier? Things go well for us ONLY when we walk close to the Lord. His way is the BEST. Rest in the Lord!!! That's the Lord's Day.....no....that's HEAVEN!

Then and then only will you have rest and perfect serenity till we reach our final rest in Glory!

Do you have that serenity?

"Safely through another week God has brought us on our way, Let us now a blessing seek, waiting in His courts today; Day of all the week the best, emblem of eternal rest, day of all the week the best, YES, an emblem of eternal rest!..."
