"Forgiven Through Confession" II Samuel 12: 7,13 &20

A very familiar narrative and a very sad one from a certain perspective. David sinned with Bathsheba, kills Uriah her husband, and the Lord has to come to him and say "YOU are the man!" We see even the "holiest" sin and sin badly! We must understand that we are no different and must fall on the grace of God as we cannot glory in ourselves. The focus is you and me...and just like David we must cry out to Calvary!

David is at... the height of his glory having general peace at this time although he was "mopping up" a few loose ends. He has secured his power as the Lord allowed him and in his pride and leisure time falls deeply into sin as he is drawn away in his lust which always brings sin which is inherently death. All was going well except David was not living close to his God. He covers his sin killing Uriah and takes Bathsheba as his own wife. Yet, loneliness set in, and he was ready to point out sin in everyone else but himself. He tried to bury it. Cover it. No wonder he was elated at first when David is able to point the finger at the man saying "he should die."...but HE was the MAN!

And we, like David, although we may have not sinned to the same degree, have! The question is "did we meet Nathan the prophet also?" David understood the man who must make restitution for the small yew lamb that was taken. He had to acknowledge his sin and say "I am the man." Do you acknowledge and say it too? That is confession and the way to salvation. We need to spend time with God to "meet with Nathan" and to confess our sin to see the absolute wonder of the cross!

Blessed is the man whose sin has been forgiven. They we will give praise and live accordingly.

What a joy!

Do YOU have that JOY???
