In 1 Chronicles 13:3, we read that David is bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. In this verse, we find the words, "for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul."
WOW! The most sacred piece of furniture from the Tabernacle in the Hebrew religion was not utilized during the reign of Saul. Above the Ark of the Covenant is the place where the presence of God dwelt with the children of Israel. Yet, they did not enquire of it in the days of Saul. To me,that is astounding. When Israel neglected the Ark of the Covenant, it was a picture of how they felt about God in their hearts. When the things of God are neglected, it will cause us to neglect God in our lives.
The same is true for us today. If we neglect the things of God: such as church, the bible, and prayer; it is a picture of how we feel about God in our hearts. Neglecting God in those areas will cause us to neglect God in all areas.
David brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, to once again make it the center of Israel's life. David desired for Israel to understand the true foundation for the nation of Israel is God who is Jehovah.
The same should be said for us. We should make God the center of our lives. How active we are with the things of God, church, the bible and prayer; will tell us how close to the center of our lives God is. Please do not neglect the things of God. Do not neglect God in your life.
