Justice Samuel Alito rips Supreme Court for not considering church coronavirus lawsuits
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Thursday criticized his colleagues' decision not to consider two lawsuits in which churches fought state coronavirus worship restrictions.

The restrictions, put in place by California and Nevada, "blatantly" disregarded the First Amendment, Alito said while speaking at the Federalist Society's National Lawyers Convention. Alito pointed to the facts in the cases, which the Supreme Court declined this summer, as an example of a way in which religious liberty is "fast becoming a disfavored right."

"If you go to Nevada, you can gamble, drink, and attend all sorts of shows, but here's what you can't do. If you want to worship, and you are the 51st person in line, sorry, you are out of luck," Alito said, singling out Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak for criticism. ...

It is somewhat foolish, to think one cure fits all churches
Not only that, but it’s foolish for someone to think that 7289 cases of Covid somehow associated with religious gatherings on the same day as the CDC said there were 8680611 total cases has any public health meaning. 0.084% of the total just isn’t scary enough. Poor old Throckmorton maybe could use some remedial math courses?

This is the expected competition in this fallen world, for the church.

As for being quote, "out of luck" - Christians don't do luck!!

We don't need coronavirus to highlight this type of struggle on earth.

Matt 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

Christians are strangers in a strange land.

John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."

Jim, did the estimable Monsieur Throckmorton count Antifa gatherings and the number of coronavirus cases associated with them? Oh, that’s right—COVID can only be transmitted at church services, not at riots. Or at premature Biden ball-spiking events.
I notice you have done considerable free advertising lately for the Roman Catholic crime syndicate. Have you now joined John Yurich as a part-time professing Christian and a full-time Catholic?

Church attendance should be a high priority for Christian laity. It should be done when it all possible. All too often, lately, it's to satisfy the greed, egotism, or politics of a pastor. With Catholics it can be something worse

The first mandatory day of Catholic attendance is coming up in a couple of months.

January 1st: Holy Day of Obligation

Today is a holy day of obligation in the United States. It is the celebration of the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. Holy Days of Obligation require mandatory church attendance – failure to comply with the obligation is considered a grave sin....
....
Seriously, these man-made rules and traditions (which must be observed by Catholics as their minimum spiritual duty to merit heaven) are an abuse of power by the Holy See. They deny the simple gospel of salvation by faith in Christ alone. They are an abomination.
