In his extended tweet, Dungy said he had watched the events in Minneapolis and had wondered and prayed about how to respond. He had then decided to post some of his thoughts for consideration. “Today we are a divided country,” Dungy said. “We are divided racially, politically, and socio-economically.” And, Dungy wrote: “Satan is laughing at us because that is exactly what he wants. Dysfunction, mistrust, and hatred help his kingdom flourish."
Warning that criminality and the prejudgment of all police officers can never be answers to the need for justice, Dungy emphasized that “ALL churches,” not just African American ones, have to be “at the forefront of meaningful dialogue and meaningful change.” He added: “We have to be willing to speak the truth in love but we have to recognize that we are not fighting against other people. We are fighting against Satan and his kingdom of spiritual darkness.”...
