Thanks Adriel, I really appreciate that. I always feel edified after reading something by Bishop Ryle.
I attended a Brethren Assembly in Devon for about a year, and the elder always read something from Ryle as part of the ministry on Sunday morning.
And his expository thoughts on the four gospels are most helpful and thought-provoking.
John UK Here is an old friend talking about the fight we have.
"It is a warfare which concerns not two or three nations only, but every Christian man and woman born into the world. The warfare I speak of is the spiritual warfare. It is the fight which every one who would be saved must fight about his soul.
This warfare, I am aware, is a thing of which many know nothing. Talk to them about it, and they are ready to set you down as a madman, an enthusiast, or a fool. And yet it is as real and true as any war the world has ever seen. It has its hand-to-hand conflicts and its wounds. It has his watchings and fatigues. It has its sieges and assaults. It has its victories and its defeats. Above all, it has consequences which are awful, tremendous, and most peculiar. In earthly warfare the consequences to nations are often temporary and remediable. In the spiritual warfare it is very different. Of that warfare, the consequences, when the fight is over, are unchangeable and eternal.
No, indeed! The principal fight of the Christian is with the world, the flesh, and the devil. These are his never-dying foes. These are the three chief enemies against whom he must wage war." (J C Ryle)

Thank you Adriel, I'm sure everything you said in your post is most relevant and very true.
I wonder if there are seasons of warfare in the spiritual just as there are seasons of warfare in the physical?
Things like strategy, planning, purpose, war cabinets, think tanks, logistics, may be the same in the spirit world as they are in our world.
There certainly seems to be an extra effort going on in the kingdom of darkness to spread evil and ungodliness throughout the world today. We are seeing things never known before, at least not in our lifetime.
In some countries there is already great tribulation, and we are beginning to see more and more tribulation here at home. Things are hotting up, and we shall be needing the armour of God to survive the onslaught on our minds and even our bodies.

John; That's a difficult one to answer with complete clarity. Is it 'sin' in the flesh which we find our struggle? - or demons on Satan payroll? Are some of the unsaved individuals we meet with in life under demonic controls?
Personally I feel that our life down here is a battle which is influenced by a dark side of the spiritual realm. Hence the warnings in Eph:6.
James's verse at - "James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils (demons) also believe, and tremble." Seems to be a matter of fact statement about demons in our midst.
Also Jesus command to the disciples Matt 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease." = "unclean spirits" - Are they of the ilk which we find referred to in Eph 6:12?
Interesting point but perhaps something we must wait to have revealed to us in due course.

Adriel, just as a matter of interest and possible edification, have you had some experience of wrestling with demons (devils) in your pilgrimage.
The Supreme Court is so ungodly. Of course that group will go against the foster agencies in favor of the perverse desires of the sodomite groups who want to adopt children. Children are being targeted more and more by evil people. Adoption of children by sodomites is of the DEVIL!!! Supreme Court aids and abets Satan every chance they get.
