Michael Bloomberg: I've 'earned my place in heaven' for anti-gun crusade
Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City, said it’s his work for more gun control — along with his anti-smoking and healthy eating campaigns — that have won him God’s favor and a sure spot behind the Pearly Gates.
His exact words, made in context of discussing his smoking cessation and anti-obesity pushes, as well as his concerted crackdowns on private gun ownership, to the New York Times were: “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”...
Amen, Dr. Tim. For a man who screams "dominionism" at the slightest hint of Christian morality yet upholds the most vile of characters, he's mighty confused if not just undone. Poor guy. To be in such a state must be terrifying.
If 'faith' is completely unnecessary to salvation and heaven. Then what is 'faith' really for if it achieves nothing?
Heb 11:1 Now FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through FAITH we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. 4 By FAITH Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. 5 By FAITH Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But *WITHOUT* FAITH it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God MUST BELIEVE (same Greek source word as faith) that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" =} And NB: Rom 12:3. (From God)
Now human conviction is something else which is confused by many with faith. This is the basis of false witness such as Liberalism, and RCC ideology etc.
Jim; Your works based salvation, as the good Mayor, you obviously support, since he donates big bucks, to Murder Mill, Planned Parenthood!
O’ Jim, at the Cross is the only equal playing field, for fallen unregenerate sinners, to experience new life in no King but Christ Alone amen!
John Gill; James 2:14; True faith indeed has no causal influence on salvation, or has any virtue and efficacy in itself to save; Christ, object of faith, is the only cause & author of salvation; faith is only that grace which receives a justifying righteousness, the pardon of sin, adoption, and a right to the heavenly inheritance; but it does not justify, nor pardon, nor adopt, nor give the right to the inheritance, but lays hold on, and claims these, by virtue of the gift of grace; & it has spiritual & eternal salvation inseparably connected with it; but as for the other faith, a man may have it, & be in the gall of bitterness, & bond of iniquity; he may have all faith in that sense, & be nothing; it is no other than the devils themselves have; & so he may have it, & be damned.
Jim; You are clearly lost & are indeed in need of Christ removing Your spiritual Harden Heart of Stone away! As their is none who are good, apart from the imputed Righteousness, of Christ Alone!
As reconciliation, through the Gift of Salvation is of the Lord, granting to one, Godly repentance, through a new Spiritual Heart!
Your take on James 2:13-18 reminds me exactly how Jehovah Witnesses & Mormons, try to twist scriptures!
Rom 4:2-5 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath reason to glory, but n’t before God. For what saith the Scripture? “Abraham believed God, & it was counted unto him for righteousness.” Now to him that worketh, his reward is reckoned n’t according to grace, but according to debt. But to him that worketh n’t , but believeth in Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness,
There is nothing good that the unregenerate can do, towards the Kingdom of Heaven to earn once ounce of righteousness! As that is utter spiritual deception to tread so lightly on God’s absolute Hoiliness & degrades sin to be a little mistake. A little & only White lie, it’s only! Heard that reasoning coming from Lincoln!
The good Mayor is a huge supporter of pushing the agenda, how abortion is Health Care, wickedness!!
ISA 58:1 “Cry aloud, spare not; lift up thy voice like a trumpet! And show My people their transgression and the house of Jacob their sins.
As the Unregenerate mind is in Hostility with Christ through Spiritual corruption of the Heart!;
Rom 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not from faith; for whatsoever is not from faith is sin.
The below is from an earlier SA article! This is cultural Christianity at its finest.
Moralistic Therapeutic Theism.
As described by Smith and his team, Moralistic Therapeutic Deism consists of beliefs like these: 1. "A god exists who created and ordered the world and watches over human life on earth." 2. "God wants people to be good, nice, and fair to each other, as taught in the Bible and by most world religions." 3. "The central goal of life is to be happy and to feel good about oneself." 4. "God does not need to be particularly involved in one's life except when God is needed to resolve a problem." 5. "Good people go to heaven when they die."
The only eternal destination Bloomberg or anyone else can earn is hell. “For the wages of sin” for Bloomberg and all others who have sinned “is death,” the second death in the eternal lake of fire. Eternal life in heaven is a gift that can only be received by faith and faith alone, Jim, and “not of works, lest any man should boast” as Bloomberg is boasting. Good works follow salvation. They do not precede it, for “whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”
Bloomberg has expressed what many believe; subjectively defined good works merit heavenly residence. From pagan religions to Pelagianism, onto the more deceptive form in Arminianism; the world is full of merit-based salvation believers.
