Methodists Agree to Split Denomination
Factions in the United Methodist Church (UMC) have reached an initial settlement around its intractable division over LGBT marriage and ordination—offering $25 million to a group of conservative congregations who want to break away and form a new denomination.

For both conservatives and progressives in the church, this compromise comes as an answer to prayer.

Various groups were slated to once again propose different plans for a split at the UMC’s general conference in May, but under the new agreement, they will abandon the proposals and put their full support behind the Protocol of Reconciliation & Grace Through Separation, which was announced Friday.

The eight-page statement details the terms of the split for the nation’s largest mainline denomination: ...

Why would anyone who claims to be a Christian remain in a denomination that constantly has to vote on whether or not to let God be the supreme authority? If you are a member of such a denomination then stop being a gutless wimp and come out from among them!

Strange that the bible believing churches that won the vote are the ones leaving. What does this mean for the international churches that led the support for a biblical position?

There has allways been a contrast between the Book of Order and the practice of the local church's. The official positions were usually sound. For many years any discussion of sodomy at the general confrence was dismissed as a waste of time.

Actually, YIA, the UMC is a "big tent" entity. There are congregations that seem more Biblically aligned than others. The problem here is that it has been difficult to tell which congregations are more Biblical than others.

Is there any proof that the Methodist church is born again church?

I ask because I don't believe there is, for some reason it's never labeled as a cult, yet it clearly has always been.

Been there, done that: Several US denominations split over slavery before the Civil War - Baptists and Methodists in 1845, Presbys in 1861.

Southern Presby theologian James H. Thornwell labeled Republicans as atheists.

No problem here, since there are thousands of denominations anyway. But it does seem to be a split over a significant issue, not the usual fight over which color the carpeting in the sanctuary should be, or whether there should be seating pads in the pews. A friend told me people left his church when their favorite 'traditional' service was changed from 11am to 9:30am.
For them, it was their last straw, and they probably threw in a couple other minor disagreements to make the switch. So they went over to a Methodist church that did have the traditional service.
In fact, it will be a good question as to which side of this split that church will be on.

Come out from among them~!
Therefore do not be partners with them~!
2 Corinthians 6:14
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?

G-d? are you a Jew or a Juadiazer?

we Christians call Him God and Father because we are able to: Hebrews 4:16
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

we real Christians call Him Father God, straight up because we can go boldly before His Throne, something a Jew can not do until, they receive Jesus as Savior ... have you received Jesus as your personal Savior able to wash you in His Blood?

Unbelievable that people would do this knowing that as a Christian G-D settled this 3000 years ago. There is no ambiguity in the word of G-D.

Break away, fall away, it all makes no difference unless they decide to make Jesus the Head of the Church and accept all of the Bible's teachings on doctrine and practice.

This excellent article written some 22 years ago, recognize that a split was not only possible but likely by the United Methodist Church. I assume they're going to have to change the title of the church to be more accurate âť—

William J. Abraham wrote:
....
It has long been agreed that United Methodism is a coalition of diverse conviction and opinion, having been formed under the banner of theological pluralism. Church leaders took the view in the 1970s that the core identity of United Methodism, if there was one at all, was located in commitment to the Methodist Quadrilateral (Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience), and that this not only permitted but in fact sanctioned and fostered doctrinal pluralism.

Doctrinal pluralism, despite its intellectual incoherence, will work so long as something akin to Liberal Protestantism is held by the leadership of the church and so long as those who are not Liberal Protestants acquiesce....

The long article is well worth reading.

It is about time they came out from among them. A similar departure is happening within the PCA, with the looming creation of the Vanguard Presbytery and congregations leaving for other denominations already in existence.
