China to rewrite Quran, Bible to fit 'socialist values'
China plans to rewrite all translated "classic religious books" to reflect the socialist values of the Communist Party of China. The order was given during a meeting in November that was organized by the Committee for Ethnic Affairs, which is responsible for all religious matters of the country.

While not directly referring to the Quran and the Bible, the committee plans a comprehensive review of the religious texts, which allegedly "do not conform to the progress of the times" and need to be fitted to the "era of President Xi Jinping."

The reviewed editions of the text – sutras from Buddhism included – should not be against the principles of the Communist Party and will either be changed or re-translated by state-appointed censors. ...

Perhaps the Chinese government have taken on to big a task to achieve their purpose???

"According to 2015 figures, Christians form the biggest religious group by some margin, with 2.3 billion adherents or 31.2% of the total world population of 7.3 billion. Next come Muslims (1.8 billion, or 24.1%), Hindus (1.1 billion, or 15.1%) and Buddhists (500 million, or 6.9%).

But the third biggest category is missing from the above list. In 2015, 1.2 billion people in the world, or 16%, said they have no religious affiliation at all. This does not mean all those people are committed atheists; some – perhaps most – have a strong sense of spirituality or belief in God, gods or guiding forces, but they don’t identify with or practise an organised religion."

Wayfarer, I think you express a very valid concern, and read with sadness your desciption of Fundamentalism vs "Reformed" (a term I will use a but loosely) in an earlier post. We of the Reformed camp are also going through similar trials at the hands of elitist liberals like Tim Keller, whom you have exposed so well, and this man Johnson in St Louis. There is an exodus underway from the Presbyterian Church in America to various other denominational groups. They use much espoused learning and especially publishing power to take over the thoughts, influence the pulpits, and clog the bookshelves (if you can find a Christian book seller anymore) with their concepts. What they spin starts as a slight derivation from the straight and narrow but that path no longer even parallels the right way after a while. It brings me much sadness to watch groups so set on following Jesus start that fall away in slow motion, only to increase faster and faster until the ivory tower crashes to the ground as its foundation was not on the Rock.

""China plans to rewrite all translated "classic religious books" to reflect the socialist values of the Communist Party of China.""

= Perhaps? - Maybe? ::-
Chapter One : God and Christ are no longer to be addressed as God or Christ.
In Communist tradition they will be known as "Brother" or "Comrade"
These 'bourgeoisie' titles will be brought into the one class proletariat inclusive of all beings. All beings are equal!!

Chapter Two : All beings as part of the total proletariat will demonstrate deference to and obeisance to the Communist Manifesto, regarding community life, including religions.

Chapter Three : “Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.” (George Orwell, 1984)

Chapter Four : “Big Brother is Watching You.”
(George Orwell, 1984)

Chapter Five : "The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently" (George Orwell. 1984)

Copyright laws requiring a change in text every so many years has brought us to this point. “ loving your favorite bible translations “ really has to end. Bible publishing companies who have moved their offices to China put Christians world wide in danger. Control the content, control the believers.
As a Baptist, we used the hcsb in teaching, preaching to memorizing scripture. But there was a change in the evangelical sway of the denomination, attendance was down, baptisms down. So, we elected a hip, unshaven “ reformed “ acolyte of Moore and Mohler and we would change Everything. JD Greer is about to reform the denomination to embracing the culture and calling it progress.
At the convention, an associate of Greer is quoted as saying they could not just wait for old guard to die off, they had to take over now.

Cultural Revolution 2.0. There is no doubt that the end product won't be the 1611 KJV which came from a similar thought process by James VI to eradicate the Geneva versions, which just shows the miracle the KJV represents.

This is the danger of electronic cloud storage. Whomever controls the 'trons, controls the content. Considering how the Bible is thought to be hate speech by elites, this can be the future of the West as well.
