AG: FBI's conduct during investigation was a 'travesty'
MR. BAKER; You said in response to that yesterday, “The FBI launched an intrusive investigation on the thinnest of suspicions that were, in my view, insufficient to justify the steps taken.” Could you tell us where exactly you disagree with Mr. Horowitz?

MR. BARR: I think there are three parts or issues, let’s say categories of analysis in the report. The first is, was the investigation adequately predicated, the start of it? The second one is, how was it conducted? And I break that down into two things: How was it conducted before the election and how was it conducted after the election? The real meat of Horowitz’s work, and the real thrust of the report actually deals with the conduct of the investigation, where I think it quickly became apparent that it was a travesty.

MR. BAKER: The abuses? I want to come onto these in detail, but the abuses that in particular refer to the application for ...

Maybe Politifact should fact check themselves, Jim, so why should anyone care what they think? What do any of your myriad pastes from the Democrat media mean? Have you changed a single mind in all your years of defending the indefensible? By the way, I'm not registered as a Republican, and I don't defend Republicanism. Too many of them are wannabe Democrats. Sure a good thing Trump isn't milquetoast.

Unfortunately, Mike, putting the word "honesty" and "Republican" together is an oxymoron. This article and the one I referenced before we're both written before the age of Trump
Dylan Byers wrote:
Fifty-two percent of Republican claims reviewed by the Tampa Bay Times fact-checking operation were rated "mostly false," “false” or “pants on fire,” versus just 24 percent of Democratic statements, according to George Mason University's Center for Media and Public Affairs. By the same token, 54 percent of Democratic statements were rated as "mostly true" or "true," compared to just 18 percent of Republican statements.

Jim, surely you know putting Democrat and honest in the same sentence is grammatically incorrect.

It is somewhat amusing that Republicans and Democrats agree on one thing - - they can't agree on basic facts something that Pew Research pointed out.

https://tinyurl.com/spclaxm (Republicans and Democrats agree: They can’t agree on basic facts)

Aw, so even if it is true that Democrats politicians are more honest than Republican ones oh, I assume you aren't going to agree with it?

Elspeth Reeves wrote:
PolitiFact rated Republican claims to be "false" or "pants on fire" three times more often than it rated Democratic claims that way this year, according to a new study by the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University. So: Does the GOP lie more? Is PolitiFact biased? Or do GOP liars — like fact-checking "dream" Michele Bachmann — get more attention

Mike, apparently it's the Republicans who have the seared consciences❗

And---

https://tinyurl.com/wwj8qfz (Putin's Revenge | Part Two)

"Season 2017 Episode 20 | 54m 37s
FRONTLINE tells the story of how Russian President Vladimir Putin came to see the United States as an enemy — and how U.S. intelligence came to believe he targeted the 2016 presidential election."

Nearly two hours of fun viewing.

Brian Lowery wrote:
Russia's cyber assault on the U.S. has become a politically charged topic, with President Vladimir Putin practically cast by his critics in the role of Bond villain. Leave it to PBS' Frontline to dissect the deeper motivations and roots of his animosity, lending welcome context to "Putin's Revenge," a documentary dish served over two parts.

Far from just resentment toward Hillary Clinton and efforts to destabilize a geopolitical foe, Putin has nursed "a lifetime of grievances" against America, the narrator intones during the latest soberly impressive production from director Michael Kirk and his team.

Why does the left claim “ mistakes “ . Calling police pigs at Starbucks, denying police service name any fast food restaurant, claiming abuse ( not that it doesn’t occur or a wrongful shooting),
But, apparently when Russia was provided “breathing room “ by Obama, that was business as usual without a smattering of evidence contrary. When the state department spent millions for the defeat of Vladimir Putin by Hillary Clinton, that was patriotic. And we didn’t think he’d not retaliate?

Well, Attorney General Barr is more of Donald Trump's personal attorney than he is a person working for the United States government, and its people. I think David Brooks was rough enough on what was going on. But one should always want to have to look at Barr's behaviors before accepting what he has to say.

"Barr offered a cloying news conference performance just before the release of the redacted report. Rather than simply let Congress and the public read Mueller's own words, Barr offered his slant while seven times asserting presidential innocence. The pre-release spin left the nation's top prosecutor looking more like Donald Trump's personal defense lawyer."
(Is William Barr a lawman or Donald Trump's lawyer? Answers to these 5 questions will tell.)

David Brooks wrote:
...

Well, with Fiona Hill and a lot of people who testified, we saw the federal government at its best. And now we're seeing another side, which is incompetence.

And I take them at their word there was no political bias. But there was certainly a lot of incompetence, and they were certainly spinning the game. And the investigation into Carter Page, just for one example, he was meeting with the Russians. And he was telling the CIA, I just want you to know I'm meeting with them.

And the FBI did not disclose that fact that he told the CIA, which certainly makes it look a lot less suspicious than it otherwise would be. And, frankly, this vindicates a lot of the — not everything, but a lot of the stuff Devin Nunes was saying, House Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, saying they weren't playing fair.

And so this is a case where I don't like — maybe there wasn't bias, but there was certainly a lot of incompetence and there were certainly people getting over their skis in trying to pursue an investigation, maybe without as much cause as they pretended....
