No-fault divorce Bill dropped
Radical plans to make the divorce process far quicker have been halted, as a result of the end of the parliamentary session.

The Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Bill was dropped as it had failed to pass all its parliamentary stages before prorogation.

The Christian Institute welcomed the outcome, but warned the plan, which affects England and Wales, could return.

American Tract Dictionary 1858 wrote:
This word is used in Scripture not only for the sin of impurity between unmarried persons, but for idolatry, and for all kinds of infidelity to God. In Eze 16:1-63, the Jewish church is symbolized as a female infant, growing up to womanhood, and then wedded to Jehovah by covenant. When she breaks her covenant by going after idols, she is justly reproached as an adulteress and a harlot, Jer 2:20 3:8-9 Ho 3:1. Adultery and fornication are frequently confounded. Both the Old and New Testaments condemn all impurity and fornication, corporeal and spiritual-idolatry, apostasy, heresy, and infidelity. See ADULTERY.

American Tract Dictionary 1858 wrote:
Is a criminal connection between persons who are engaged, one or both, to keep themselves wholly to others; and thus it exceeds the guilt of fornication, which is the same intercourse between unmarried persons. As the highest sin of its kind, and so including all other sins of the flesh, it is forbidden in the seventh commandment. Where polygamy was allowed, as among the ancient Jews, illicit intercourse between a married man and a woman who was [not?]married, nor betrothed, constituted not adultery, but fornication.

Fornication may be, in some sense, covered by a subsequent marriage of the parties; but adultery cannot be so healed. Hence God often compares himself to a husband jealous of his honor, Jer 31:32; and hence the forsaking of the true God is compared to fornication and adultery of the vilest kind, Jer 3:9; Eze 23:36-49.

By the Law of Moses, both the man and the woman who had committed adultery were punished with death, Le 20:10; 21:9; Joh 8:5. A woman suspected of this crime might, in order to clear herself, drink the "water of jealousy," as prescribed in Nu 5:1-31.

The modern translators widen the meaning of word Fornication is simply sexual relationships between 2 single persons -sexual immorality can has a broader meaning this is why it is used Jesus said Fornication only and not if the wife or husband departs. The disciples said if this is the only reason we can put away our wife’s then it is better not to marry simple even a child can understand this all other reason is false teaching and contrary tithe scriptures

I don't read or study the KJV, but I post using it so I have nothing against it. Does that count?

Anyway, God does indeed hate divorce, but He allows for it in the case of adultery or if the unbelieving spouse desires to depart.

Forgiveness and repentance is always the best way, but .....

I'm not sure how this story about England got onto the KJV, which is not used that much anyway there. but the modern editions do much better job on just about everything for example:

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom.

1 Timothy 1:9-10
as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine, --- WEB

Several verses I usually used to apply to politicians of both parties, and to some so-called religious leaders as well.

The World English Bible it's not copyrighted and there is no charge for it and it is based on a very good Bible the ASV

Certainly such terms are foreign to a deceived and deluded culture, but they do pertain to modern dictionaries; they are still there, they are not obsolete by no means.

It is the concepts our culture tries to make obsolete, but the words and their meaning, say the precise acts, remain.

In our 'educated' society ignorance and iliteracy willingly abound by choice. See, all goes, so why focus on meaning and detail ...

However, preachers should not contribute to this out of pragmatism, hiding behind modern versions to 'make the message clear'. They only need the right words explained.

People touched by the Spirit will certainly understand AV texts and concepts when presented, because these people will be the seekers, as only those that seek will find. This is the golden rule of biblical evangelism, not of modern/man-centered evangelism.

"If ye seek him, he will be found of you"
"Ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

The rationale for the need to use modern versions rests on man-centered evengelism.

Adriel, with due respect, the passages of Scripture you bring discredit themselves by rendering "sexual immorality" and 'sexually immoral" to key original concepts.

Such terms rendered in modern versions have no convicting edge in a permisive society drained of absolutes which ambiguously defines its own measure of right and wrong.

Whereas whoremongers, fornication and adulterers, as used in the AV, point to concret specifics.

Matthew 19:9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”

Matthew 5:32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Malachi 2:16 “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her, says the Lord, the God of Israel, covers his garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.”

Mark 10:8-12 And the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

Apparently, Timothy, no-fault divorces have nothing to do with abortion. As an English source pointed out.

The Government’s impact assessment on the new law stated: “A concern raised in some consultation responses was that these changes have the potential to make it easier for older men to abandon their wives in favour of younger women.”

But ministers dismissed the concerns, saying they had “not found any evidence that this risk will be affected by the proposed changes.”

Men aged 46 and women aged 44 are most likely to benefit from these proposals, the assessment found....

Of course another “inhibiting influence upon unrestrained sexual activity” would be the existence of children, right, Jim? No problemo! Simply murder them before they can protest or protect themselves, and justify it by pretending they weren’t alive in the first place. Other animals kill their young when it serves their purpose to do so. Why shouldn’t humans? No wonder the Good Book refers to some people as dogs, wolves and swine.

S. Michael Craven wrote:
You may be surprised to learn that the initial efforts to advance no-fault divorce legislation were underwritten by Hugh Hefner through the Playboy Foundation, which financed an army of young lawyers working to advance these antifamily policies. Let's see…America's largest pornographer working to rewrite public policy related to the family? There's something seriously wrong with this picture! Alfred Kinsey also played an instrumental role in reducing these legal protections by falsely reporting that adultery was commonplace in most marriages. This reduced the stigma associated with adultery and ultimately served as the basis for eliminating all laws against adultery. Hefner and Kinsey both saw marriage as the final barrier to sexual freedom and thus determined to remove its inhibiting influence upon unrestrained sexual activity....
excerpt from, "No-Fault Divorce is Institutionalized Evil"

apparently England wasn't as big a market for Playboy magazine as the United States was?
