10 minutes of Penn Jillette vs. evangelist may never be seen

Christian evangelist Ray Comfort, whose Living Waters ministry projects include “God Doesn’t Believe in Atheists,” “Nothing Created Everything” and “Einstein, God and the Bible,” as well as many man-in-the-street interview movies, has decided to let comedian and atheist Penn Jillette have his way.

Comfort announced on Tuesday he will cut from his new movie, “The Banana Man Story,” an interview between the two recorded while the movie was in production.

The decision came after Jillette’s representatives threatened to sue over the 10-minuted video of Jillette approaching Comfort after he had finished an interview with well-known atheist and theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss for the movie.

Comfort explained Jillette “asked me who made God and a stack of other questions.” ...

Still, Romans 1 states that they are without excuse for pushing the innate knowledge of God away.

I see your point, Neil. It is as if they want God to speak to them directly rather than through His word. Reminds me of the parable from Luke 16:19-31 which closes with this

Abraham said unto him, They have Moses and the Prophets: let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one came unto them from the dead, they will amend their lives. Then he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rise from the dead again. - Luke 16:29-31

They do for believers, but the whole purpose of Evidentialist classical "proofs" is to *avoid* using Scripture to convince skeptics that God exists. They want to avoid the fallacy of Question Begging, so they would appeal to Scripture only after a person accepted God's existence.

jamesc wrote: pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. 1Cor 1:21
"...the Ethiopic version reads, "that believe in this foolish doctrine"; and this he determined to do, and did, "by the foolishness of preaching"; or by that sort of preaching, which both for the matter of it, Christ, that itself, and the manner of it, the world reckons foolishness; and which are the things of the Father's grace in election, of the Son's grace in redemption, and the Spirit's in regeneration: so the wise men of the world, with all their wisdom, are left ignorant of God, and perish in their sins, whilst the Gospel they despise is the power of God unto salvation to all that believe in Christ; this, through efficacious grace, becomes the means of regenerating and quickening men, showing them their need of salvation, and where it is, and of working faith in them to look to Christ for it." I think you have a good point here, Neil, but suggest that there are a few passages that point directly not only to the Lord's existence but man's innate knowledge of that fact. For instance:

[QUOTE]Forasmuch as that, which may be known of God, is manifest in them, for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him, that is, his eternal power and Godhead, are seen by the creation of the world, being considered in his works, to the intent that they should be without excuse:
-- Romans 1: 19, 20It makes man the more sinful for not repenting and coming to the Father via the Son in faith. Yet we also know that grace is required and that faith is a gift given by the Lord through grace (Ephesians 2:8, 9). So it is not surprising that those who are not in the process of being quickened by the Holy Spirit don't see God for who He is or even acknowledge His very existence.

What is surprising is that the Lord chooses to work through the foolishness of preaching to call people to Himself. What

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. - 1 Corinthians 1:20-24

Atheists are surepressers of Truth as they have zero excuses. As they can’t claim with true honesty, that they don’t know. That the One & Only True living God exists, & they are held accountable for their own sin. As they have a conscience & are created in the image God!

Penn doesn’t like Christians, who can changeling him on his truth claims, he makes.

You're right, Neil.
God has COMMANDED every man to repent.
Not to argue with people whether He exists or not.

Acts 17:30
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

While I appreciate Comfort's talents at street evangelism, no systematic proofs for the existence of God can be found in Scripture. Did God delegate such a weighty and difficult task to fallible philosophers (like Anselm and Aquinas) if it is as important as some think? The Bible simply presupposes God's existence, and man's duty is to repent and believe.

Study the history of the subject: such proofs are very complex and moreover, have inspired compelling refutations. The Ontological Argument may make your head spin.

Atheists are obstinate and foolish, and will not believe even if one be raised from the dead before them. God is not obliged to satisfy such morons with proofs of His existence, so neither are we.
