South Africa in Recession After Land Threat: ‘Shocking Drop in Agriculture’

South Africa slid into an official recession Tuesday, as second-quarter growth domestic product (GDP) figures showed a contraction of 0.7% — the second straight quarter of decline. First-quarter figures were revised down, from -2.2% to -2.6%.

The main culprit, according to South Africa’s Business Day, was a sharp contraction in the agricultural sector, which has been under political assault this year as the ruling African National Congress has pledged “expropriation without compensation.”

And who will control the diamond mines? DeBeers Company does now, restricting production to keep the price high. I've seen a PBS geography show where they said sapphires are more rare than diamonds.

so after they genocide the white farmers who have a very good relationship with different tribal groups there and steal the land, and the rest of the people starve, as they are doing in communist venezuela, what communist group is going to own that land?

is chihna involved in this?

I’d recommend divesting from South Africa, but their government already started the process.

Typo:- should read “ from the bread and food basket of Southern Africa to the basket case of Southern Africa”, that is the whole region that makes up the Southern African countries including South Africa itself.

Yes there were many wrong things in the old white dominated apartheid system.

However, these are not remedied by a policy of violent revenge and theft destroying what is often the only productive economy of the countryside. This is the only answer that Marxism Communism has to offer, and it transformed Zimbabwe from the basket of Southern Africa to the bread and food basket case of Southern Africa, and now it threatens to do the same for South Africa itself.

Far far better it is to build up strong nuclear family units for black people in South Africa, to increase and improve cheap vocational and skills education in excellent schools, agricultural and horticultural colleges, and work cooperatively with white farmers to bring in skilled black supervisors and agricultural specialists, who can later on buy into joint ownership, or even to transition these farms over time into cooperatives based on the existing workers buying into shares of ownership in the farms.

Otherwise South Africa will quickly share the fate of Zimbabwe, Venezuela and many socialistic Marxist Communistic countries in the world and descend into total anarchy.

Let's see how else they could have reacted:
1. we thought this would happen, with white farmers arming up, paying for mercenaries to defend their lands rather than producing crops.
2. we knew this would happen since Zimbabwe became a disaster area when the same land grab was used.

I don't think they would have chosen either one of the above because it makes their land grab look so blatant.

I, for one, would not mind having a flock of white South African emigrants come to the US. They would be happy to be here, while many of those 'South of the Border' types come in 'with an attitude' and are very ignorant of the rules of civilized society (I have heard complaints on a Spanish radio station in Miami that points this out--there is a real division there between the Cubans who came over after Castro, the Cubans who have come over recently, and the Central Americans arriving now).
If the US had an operational immigration system, not one where 'temporary protection status' goes on for 18 years, with a functioning border, then we could pick and choose who would come into the country. Let other countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada take on the 'humanitarian cases' of the world.
If you don't protect your border and immigration system, what country do you have?

Dark Ages alright, just like Rhodesia cough Zimbabwe.
Social Justice warriors will see it differently however one does not get justice for past wrongs by voting in hatemongers who sing songs about killing the very people who are feeding the nation.
God takes a nation away from a people until they repent and turn back to Him. In this case they just keep carrying out evil and openly celebrating it......

A 29.2% decline in agricultural production and they are shocked? About a month ago sa.com posted an article dealing with the situation in South Africa. I remember a proponent of the land confiscation law saying," we are going to take back the land even if it means going back to the dark ages." Buddy, the dark ages is exactly what you are going to get.
