The UK's Highest-Ranking Evangelical Politician Steps Down

“To be a political leader—especially of a progressive, liberal party in 2017—and to live as a committed Christian, to hold faithfully to the Bible’s teaching, has felt impossible for me,” Tim Farron told his country on Wednesday, a week after the general election.

Considered the first evangelical party leader in a century, Farron dodged questions during the recent campaign about whether he believed homosexuality was a sin despite his political stance in favor of same-sex marriage and equal rights. An evangelical amid Anglicans, he faced accusations of harboring conservative theology within the liberal party, even when he made his liberal views clear. ...

True
Significantly, in some cases godliness has been more prevalent in 'Arminian' settings than in 'Calvinistic' ones, which often come charged with doctrinal correctness at the expence of arrogant presumptuousness

After all God is promised to walk with the lowly, not with the 'correct', See Is. 66:2

Though I believe firmly in sovereign grace, and believe that Arminianism is deficient in its message of "Freewill", I also believe that many Arminians, (who probably are not even aware of this title), are truly saved.

Remember, John and Charles Wesley, who were Arminians, brought about the famous Methodist movement, which was used sovereignly by God in the decadent 18th century, when the official Church of England, and even the many Nonconformist chapels were totally dead, preaching only formal religion, to bring many to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, through bold gospel preaching, outside locked churches, to large and often hostile crowds, without any sound amplification, just loud powerful voices!!!

There was also a branch of "Calvinistic Methodism", led by George Whitefield, and the Welsh evangelists like Howell Harries, that preached the more Reformed message of sovereign grace.

It was these two parallel movements, one Arminian, one Reformed, that God used to bring hundreds and thousands to faith in the 18th century, and prevented Britain being caught up in a disaster like the French Revolution.

Are you saying that every Arminian can't be saved?

From Article:-
""‘I became a Christian because the evidence for Christianity is staggeringly compelling. Of course, becoming a Christian is staggeringly inconvenient too, which I suspect is why I buried my head in the sand for so long. If I was to become a Christian, I would have to accept that I was not the master of my own destiny; that I needed to bow down to God who created me and who will judge me. I would also have to accept that I was a ‘sinner’ and ask for forgiveness and turn to Him as my master.’"" (Tim Farron)

Looks like Farron is an Arminian - DIY - Free Willer - home made Christian. There is a lot of it about. People who convince themselves of being a Christian - BUT have not the inherent gift of God that is true faith.

The Romish church is 'full' of them and the Anglican/Episcopalian church is also 'full' of them. Nominals who do not have saving faith. What they have is a sin dominated self conviction that they are Christian. That is how they can reject the Bible to accept the sin, such as sodomite behaviour.

If today the qualification of a politician is the acceptance of sin to the detriment of the Word and the Law of God then you are NOT Christian.

The Reformation proved the UK could have devout Christian leaders, its just people in the UK really don't want Christian leaders in this day.

I don't know if this fellow is devout, but he seems the type that would correct a misspelling of ceramic when prompted by his iPhone as well as understand the meanings of simple words like alter & altar

Well Frank, you sure are vindicated about what you say concerning Christians in politics. Here it is from the horse's mouth.
