The church is under attack in our generation. Can anyone dispute such a statement? Can anyone deny that we live in a sea of distractions? Pastors and church leaders often find themselves on the front lines, and with so many various issues plaguing the church today, it is easy to find ourselves like Martha, cumbered about with much serving, but seeing so little fruit.
When the apostles in the first century church faced mounting perplexities and distractions in the work they found it necessary to give themselves continually to prayer and the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4). We believe there is a need to return to these same foundations of ministry in our generation.
A visiting pastor from China, upon touring churches in the USA, once remarked that he was "amazed at how much the church in America can accomplish without the Holy Spirit." We have more money, tools, manpower, and academic resources today than perhaps ever before in the history of the Christian church, and yet there is a distinct lack of power and effectiveness in so many of our ministries.
We not only need to bring forth fruit, but we need fruit that remains .. John 15:16.
NYC is a difficult place to host a conference. Logistically it's difficult. And spiritually it is very challenging. But as D. L. Moody once said, "Cities are the centers of influence. Water runs downhill, and the highest hills in America are its great cities. If we can stir them, we can stir the whole country."
To help us in this effort, we have assembled a unique lineup of respected leaders from varied backgrounds to exhort and encourage us in the area of preaching and prayer. We trust these men will be the Lord's messengers in the Lord's message. Some of the speakers include:
The seating is extremely limited, but the benefit is that you'll have an opportunity to sit and talk with the speakers and other pastors in a relaxed setting. In addition, all singing will be done a cappella for its beauty in simplicity.Joining us at the conference will be Banner of Truth and they have graciously agreed to offer generous discounts for conference attendees. We hope you will take advantage of their book tables during the break times each day.
Lunches and refreshments will be provided on-location for both days. In addition, every attendee will receive a unique gift and a very special memento to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation (hint!). You won't want to miss out!
