Disagreement does not equal contention. Just because someone disagrees and makes a contradictory point to yours does not mean that they are just trying to be argumentative. They may very well be attempting to give a more biblical, clear understanding of a matter. Itās difficult to know someoneās motives.
Personally, I donāt see any deceit or evasion in quoting Scriptures that apply to a particular topic. They were not only within the context of our discussion but were also being quoted in the context of their positions in Scripture.
Yes, they were contradictory to Sister B.ās position on the definition of boasting but were not deceptive or crafty in any way. They were in fact very out in the open, clear, and to the point.
Sorry, but I think I am also reading between the lines. I also try to think about what you are saying and not just swallowing it hook, line, and sinker.
You say that the generic term ārulerā is better than ākingā. You are allowed to have your own opinion.
āBut Jesus called them to Himself and said, āYou know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them.ā āāMatthew 20:25
Someone said: ā The problem with modern modes of government is the humanistic foundationā. Yes, humanism ruins it all, every time. But it isnāt just modern modes that suffer from humanism; ancient modes of government were fraught with problems.
What mode of civil government do you propose? Definitely not anarchy...
1. Someone said, ābut we still have our responsibilities to put feet to our prayers in these mattersā. I agree.
2. Yes, so after all the good and godly kings of history we say that just because we had many bad ones too, absolute monarchy is a bad form of government. Thatās like saying because weāve had so many wicked presidents over the years a democracy or republic is automatically a bad form of government. Thatās illogical. Just because you bit into a rotten apple doesnāt mean you should never buy apples again. Maybe change the shopping market, but donāt just write them off.
B. McC, I didnāt say that the king shouldnāt have advisors or listen to counsel. The term, āAbsolute monarchyā is the name for a particular form of government. Definitely God is the only āabsoluteā in the true sense of the term. Thanks for being technical. I totally agree with you on that.
You still have not shown me how an āabsolute monarchyā form of government is unbiblical. Like a king ruling a country, you know. I donāt mean dictatorship either.
Possibly speaking of far right extremist Islamic jihadi sleeper cells who are targeting far right extremist Jews and others with systematic brutal attacks on US soil?
