Amen, QC, and may God richly bless you all continually! Every human has value in the eyes of God; we are made in His image.

Yes, there’s many more crimes that are constantly committed especially by the Deep State that no one ever hears about. It’s all messy politics. It’s one big cat fight. Not always fun to watch. Remember to bring your earplugs.

This might help clarify what I am saying. God has given provision for keeping the peace of a nation. In Nigeria there’s so much mind blowing, high level corruption and collusion that the government is not really serious about eliminating the threat. Thankfully, our Constitution allows us to be involved in protecting our nation from foreign and domestic enemies as citizens; whereas I doubt Nigerians have this particular legal right or allowance. The USA is unique in allowing “a well-regulated militia” to stand by ready for anything; yes, many nation’s governments do not allow citizens to even own weapons of any kind. Especially oppressive regimes are keen on keeping their citizens weak, ignorant, and poor so that they would not be able to overthrow the tyranny as in a coup d'État.

“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:1-7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Nigerian military is already well equipped with those items. I am sure there are some Christians serving in that capacity.

Doc, be careful with those movies. There’s more than meets the eye, and even what does meet the eye isn’t always good.

B. McCausland, thank you. The whole book of Revelation is full of figures and pictures as well as other End Times books in Scripture. Dispensationalism comes from trying to take everything in Revelation literally.

different world-views.

Brothers, keep fighting for the truth and loving Christ with all your hearts. Do not let your love for winning the argument stifle your love for gentleness and meekness. You don’t have to win the argument to be right, and winning the argument doesn’t make you right. Apologists sometimes forget this. I’m sure you know all of this stuff better than I and are probably all much older than I. Forgive my rambling.

Finally of all, rejoice in the Lord and in the power of His might! Don’t get bogged down with the wickedness of this sinful world by joining in it or moping over it. It is a dreadful slough, but keep looking up and forward towards the light. Do not look back in love for it or in horror of it. Keep your heads up and your eyes open. Watch and pray! Be faithful in the moment and trust God for the next. Remember that our King is coming very soon and our salvation will shortly be consummated. Press on and God speed!

Doc, John, and QC, I agree that we can’t force “holidays or not” onto anyone. Every believer can take a day off as to the Lord, but if he doesn’t observe the day, he should also do it as to the Lord. The visible church today is definitely not where it should be, but it doesn’t mean that Jesus has gotten down from the throne. He is still on there reigning with power. I am joyful because of this. I am seeking to please Him with my life and to walk in His ways. The Lord has His people, even today, all over the world who are loyal to Him in love and obedience. They are imperfect, I know, but truly converted and following Christ.

Bro John, you may be having the Elijah Syndrome. I’ve had it too before.

Doc, you may be experiencing the Wild Texan Trapped Inside of Me Syndrome according to John’s Yee Haww diagnosis. I have had that too before.

Finally, QC, I appreciate your gracious comments and your efforts to cross-culturally explain many truths and feelings. This is not easy to do as there are so many different starting places, so many
