Great Sermon! Always fretted about my ability to evangelise and whether I was full enough of the Holy Spirit ...
Bless you what a helpful teaching...
THE POWER IS IN THE WORD
Hallelujah
Great Sermon! O my- like every single sermon preached by this wonderful saint, it was helpful and a voice proclaiming the glory of the gospel.
An exposition of Isaiah 55, last verse.
I attempted to read some of the writings about grudem and actually couldn't fathom what they were going on about - quote ' he is foubdational in complementarian theology.'
Blah blah blah ( sounds like he's verging on the emergent ).
Can I say this - true Christianity is simple ( it doesn't fluff academic pride). It is you having a relationship with the God man Jesus Christ and him revealing himself through the bible. It is you through the hilt spirit repenting of sin and getting ever closer to that beautiful saviour. It's simple - so simple that the clever guys couldn't get it ( they missed it because they were discussing theology). You either get it or you don't. Verily verily I say unto you. Except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Wayne Grudem ( I have regarded his spirit for a while so I had to do some research to present ).
1. He is a proponent of neo Calvinism. 2. He is linked to names such as Rick Warren, Jack Deere, Keller. John Wimber. 3. I believe the book I read that disturbed me was 1 Peter although it was so long ago that I may well be wrong. 4. Linked to the vineyard church. 5. I would suggest that he is operating under an academic spirit - I attended a church where his teachings were considered up there with the bible- there was much pride ( linked to a bible college ) and very little display of the Holy Spirit in fact I would suggest that the church was dead.
With regards to bible versions, I would absolutely recommend that you get hold (on YouTube ?) of Dr Sam Gipps series, what's the big deal about the KJV. He explains the issues around biblical correction in a very simplstic manner ( much better than I could). The videos are very thought provoking and may lead you to explore the whole area of bible versions. You may not necessarily agree with him but it will make you think.
It was something about the blood of Jesus being completely shed such that he was now bloodless in heaven -,then he went on to say that's why we have to take communion as the body of Jesus was in the communion ( it sounded pretty much like transubstantiation to me ?).
Wayne Grudem - I don't rate him? 1.he was prominent in producing the ESV bible ( yet another hooky bible). 2. I once read some of his writing - and at page 3 or 4 it was clear that he was not promoting salvation by faith alone through grace alone.
I only see the two of them saying unpleasant things about each other - where are the serious political policies ( health care / unemployment / foreign policy / education etc ) I can only assume that America has no problems ?????
And I guess choosing Deborah from their conceit was a form of display of his wrath don't you think ? I can't properly discuss that though as I have not been in that area of scripture and meditated on it for quite some time. Blessings x
Isaiah 3 ( forgive me I had the wrong piece of scripture). The context is Isaiah prophesying to a nation under Gods wrath.
11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him. 12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. 13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
As far as I can see - this election is the choice between one awful candidate vs another. I read in the psalms that the removal of good leaders are Gods judgement on an evil nation. In the U.K. We have that right now too. Cannot recall the last proper leader we had - a woman leader is not a good biblical sign????
