Robert Putnam, Harvard Univ. sociologist, did a study on communities that relates well to this story. He found that more diverse communities had less trust and communication. That is logical when you think of it--you have lived all your life in some small corner of North Carolina, for example, and now you find that Spanish is required for ordering food at a restaurant or getting service at a store! How likely are you to trust those you can't even talk to? More interesting is that Putnam did not want to publish this study because he disagreed with its conclusions. Only a British interviewer got him to admit that he had done it, then the interview was published and people asked him to publish it. Naturally, the mainstream media buried it on page 56 of their newspapers, and no interviews were made of him on any news or PBS programs.
I am astonished at the things our President is doing. This one makes a lot of sense, but is so contrary to govt planning, which is zero-line budgeting. I am also interested in his call to close the frontier with Mexico by using the military. What a great idea! This should have been done from the start, using the troops that are doing nothing but dying in Afghanistan, even from Afghan soldiers who they are fighting alongside of. I don't think we comprehend the hatred those Muslims have of anything Christian. The other SA news items about Turkey and Algeria are just samples of this.
And I thought today's Big Story would be about the Consumer's Report magazine folk studying hamburgers at 25 different fast food restaurants around the US, and finding 22 of them failing to keep meat with antibiotics out of their system. No wonder people who eat fast food, even with an order of Diet Soda, have weight problems. And it makes you wonder...did that Christian fast food chicken restaurant pay for this study? Who knows how much antibiotics are in their chicken?
Well, Angela, at least you know you can always apply for a job at Harvard and check off the 'Native American' box when it asks for origin. Warren did that and then Harvard boasted of her making their faculty more diverse!
