Mike of NY, very helpful. Thank you. If yall got any other advice it would be greatly apprciated. I want to be super prepared for the next time they show up.
I hope it doesn't come off as we had a heated debate. That wasn't the case at all though one was eager to leave.
What's the best way to go about witnessing to them? Some JW ladies came by my house today and we got on the discussion of the trinity. One left fruatrated (she's an ex roman catholic) and the other was curious and agreed to come back and talk more. After they left I felt like things could have gone better.
This reminds me of a book I saw at a thrift store. It was titled Faith Club and the agenda was for christians, muslims, and jews to "come together as one." :/
Lady Virtue, with the feminists refusing to be traditional the skills of sewing have flown out the door (one skill the proverbs 31 woman had) so women are left buying dresses instead of making their own (saving money and giving the opition of modesty)....most of the time they pay a high price for maybe a yard of fabric ??? Anyways, with all the fancy I must keep up with Joneses nonsense I see why people say it's "hard". But I agree with you...it should not be this way. You can have a beauiful, elegant wedding without going into debt.
Get Real, Ruth is an example to go along with the Proverbs 31 woman (as Unprofitable Servant pointed out) of a virtuous woman. It appears you are writing your own version of Romans 3:10
Ruth 3:11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a VIRTUOUS WOMAN
I've seen situations as such play out. Why would they get married when mom can run to the government, claim she's a harlot or in nicer terms she doesnt know who the dad is, and recieve medicaid, foodstamps, etc. Dad is relieved of some finicail responsbility. In a sense, fornicatiion is rewarded....
Of course there's the reason....why buy the cow when you get the milk free (again not just the milk but health coverage and food and possibly housing as well).
Jessica, I would have to disagree that church is for the lost. It's for the saints. Now the gospel, that's for the lost. The great commission is for us to go not for them to come to us. And if church is full of lost people how are the saints suppose to get the meat when the milk is constantly beinh preached over and over again.
