The Remnant has always been a very small group in the church, never mind in the nation."Nominal" Christians abound in the western nations today. Many of them are called Liberals, which is a completely different religion to Christianity. When you look at stats and surveys like these then all you need to remember is "Anglicanism" is still refered to as Christian. Or the WCC is considered to be Christian. So it is no surprise that worldly religions like these are set up by Satan, to confuse and confound the gullible. Jesus said Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And followed it with.... 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. So it is to be expected. |

"PARKINSON'S disease sufferer Margo MacDonald (Member Scottish Parliament) will today launch a consultation on a new law to allow assisted suicide for people with degenerative conditions, terminal illnesses and dependent trauma victims."It may be a harsh thing for some to hear at any time, but I do think it takes more courage to live, than to die in this way. However knowing the bunch of reprobates we have in Edinburgh as MP's, I wouldn't be surprised to see this woman bring in legal murder upon those who suffer. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Proverbs 3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. |

Sin became a part of the human condition when the then "human race" (albeit only two of them) disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. Since that time this has been the condition of every mortal and the wretched state of the world.Eccl 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. 1John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Romans 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. :23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. |

"The book suggests that the Apostle Paul could have been a Roman spy who faked his conversion in order to infiltrate the early Christian church."This fairy story is of course predicted. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto FABLES. 2Tim 4. ONLY by Faith - the gift of GOD - can any mortal discern the Truth of Scripture. 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2Peter 1. |

lyn wrote: DJC49 points out that infant baptism doesn't save. The grounds for baptism are found in Acts 2:41, "So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls." The preaching of the Gospel preceded the act of baptism, as the Holy Spirit convicts lost souls upon hearing the word of God, hearts are changed by the power of His word. Those who received {to accept what is offered} the Gospel underwent a baptism, but NOT until they had heard the Gospel message. It would be hard for an infant to hear and comprehend such a message. Oh Dear Lyn; The standard Baptist denomination hypothesis.First you have excluded God from the baptism. Does He require proof by human confession to know who are His flock? Second the verse to which you refer is at "mission," ie the first time the adults heard the Gospel. So yes they will require baptism at the age they hear. Presbyterians baptise adults on mission too. Third *COVENANT* - The promise is to you and your children. Acts 2:39. Fourth Nowhere in the Bible is discrimmination by age, taught or practised. Fifth If God can accept the circumcision at 8 days old, then HE can equally receive and enable baptism at the baby stage. etc etc. |

Neil wrote: BTW, why does imported English cheese cost over twice as much (~ $10/lb) as domestic? Does Britain keep the cheaper stuff for domestic consumption, or is it simply limited volume? I have trouble believing the English varieties are as costly to make (inefficient?) as the French. Neil. (A suggestion from a Brit). It could be because of our crazy and very expensive TAX system. In the production of our commodities the taxman rips us off - as well as in the consumption. Thus we "export" our tax burden as well. (Sorry) |

"In a guide to helping people find happiness, the abbot, who starred in the hit-BBC series The Monastery, warns that society is in danger of losing its soul because of growing consumerism and the decline of religion." He appears to suggest this as a future event. I would say that it is already a feature of modern church and society. Doctrine should never be a reaction to any possible future event. But "worldliness" has always been the enemy of Christianity. Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Phil 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a CROOKED AND PERVERSE NATION, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; |
