In this dispatch: I. Washing My Underwear For The First Time In 36 Years II. A Modern Day Zaccheus Comes To Christ
Dear Prayer Warriors, Well I am into my second week here in Zambia and did something I have not done in 36 years. I washed my under ware. You can only pack so much and then it is off to the sink. I have not traveled without Eleanor for over eight years and boy do I miss my helpmate!!!
I would like to introduce you to Charles, a modern day Zaccheus. Charles is a high ranking government official and corporate executive here in Zamia and well as a large landowner. His wife came to Christ a number of years ago but Charles has remained uninterested in the Lord. It was my privilege to have breakfast with Charles and lead him to Christ. He immediately texted his wife. I also have him set up to attend the Baptist church with Nelson, the Navigator Country Leader of Zambia and to begin one on one follow-up and discipleship with Nelson.
God used the Marriage Covenant Seminar to touch Charles’s heart, particularly the change in the marriage as his wife attended without him last year. Charles invited his friends from his social network for a mini-seminar in at his home.
Charles then invited his government and business contacts for a second mini-seminar. Again this was in their palatial home overlooking the American embassy. Charles put on a great little seminar with a fine meal afterwards.
Then Charles invited these friends and associates to the weekend Marriage Seminar. Several couples came and expressed to Nelson personally a desire to study more and learn more about Christ.
The Apostle Paul proclaimed to the Romans in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
This is our ministry – to lift up Christ and call men to repentance, to teach the holy, eternal, inerrant Word of God, to build up marriages and families in the faith and to raise up and equip leaders for the church.
I close this dispatch as always with a deep and abiding thankfulness for your sacrificial and effectual prayers that empower and drive this ministry ever forward in the cause of Christ.
