Schlissel writesthat Rome and the Eastern Orthodox are "not preaching another gospel.
"If you listen to the question period at the end of the sermon "Contemporary Attacks on Justification (6/7)" at http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?currSection=&sermonID=4604214913, beginning at the 44:28 mark, Pipa states that Steve Schlissel writes that Rome and the Eastern Orthodox are "not preaching a another gospel." Has Schlissel forgotten the fact that Trent (which is still binding according to Rome) states that Protestants are preaching another gospel. This written comment by Schlissel came after Schlissel had participated in a conference of 23-24 speakers including Roman Catholics and proponents of the Eastern Orthodox system (according to Pipa). Others that uphold the Federal Vision / Auburn Avenue Theology seem to be moving in the same wayward direction (and they will get much worse with time, if God does not grant them repentance).
Presbyterian Worship: Old and New by Kevin Reed (A Review and Commentary upon Worship in Spirit and Truth, a book by John Frame. Reed shows how Frame has abandoned the Reformation, both scripturally and confessionally, in regard to worship. He also gives an excellent summary of historic Reformed views and then contrasts them with the novel ideas now being touted by Frame.)
FREE The Psalms of David in Metre (being the Scottish Metrical Psalter, first authorized by the Westminster Divines and then also by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland [in 1650], with notes by John Brown of Haddington.)
Worship: The Regulative Principle of Worship in History by Reg Barrow (Dovetails splendidly with Calvin's Necessity of Reforming the Church. Cites numerous examples from Reformation history (Calvin, Knox, Owen, the Westminster Divines, etc.) exhibiting the Reformation consensus regarding the basis of biblical faithfulness in this area.
Reformation Worship, the Regulative Principle (RPW), Iconoclasm, etc.
"If it be asked, then, by what things chiefly the Christian religion has a standing amongst us, and maintains its truth, it will be found that the following two not only occupy the principal place, but comprehend under them all the other parts, and consequently the whole substance of Christianity, viz., a knowledge first, of the right way to worship God; and secondly of the source from which salvation is to be sought. When these are kept out of view, though we may glory in the name of Christians, our profession is empty and vain."
Reformation Bookshelf CD 19 contains many classic Reformed books on many worship issues and the regulative principle of worship.
"This collection of... CDs is a truly astounding accomplishment. There is nothing like this available to the ordinary Christian on the whole face of the earth. Now, for the first time ever, ordinary Christians can have direct and near effortless access to the very cream of Puritan and Reformed, as well as Covenanter, literature.
Buy these CDs while you can, and find out for yourself what the First and Second Reformations were really all about! You'll be truly amazed, and, by God's grace, will grow from being an ordinary Christian to being an extraordinary one.
What they used to say of the Puritan John Flavel's preaching, can be said of these CDs: they are 'hissing hot'!"
