Have you ever meditated on what it exactly means for God to be holy? A simple study of the word "holy" would see that it means 'set apart" or "sacred". What does this mean for God to be set apart? Or what does it means for us to view God as not so holy?
When we live and act out in sin, do we glance over the fact that God is holy is sees all sin and hates all sin? Or do we view Him as a small "g" god, who doesn't need to route out all evil or who lets violations pass? When we ignore God or forget about Him, do we repent because we know that God is necessary and ever present? Or do we forge our own god like the Greeks and Romans who aren't always there and aren't always powerful?
Would this outlook on God's holiness affect the way we take the charge in Leviticus 11:44 and 1 Peter 1:16, "I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy."
