Why We Don't Observe Christmas in Church:Most of you who have been members or attenders of Providence for sometime know that we don't follow the man made "church calendar" of Holy Days like Christmas, Easter, Lent, Ascension Day, Saints Days, etc. But just in case you were unaware or if you or friends and relatives have questions, here are some materials to help explain why we don't.
Please keep in mind that none of these Holy Days or "holidays" are in the bible and it used to be the case until a little over a century ago that non-observance of Christmas was the majority report in most American Presbyterian, Baptist, and Congregational, churches. Please also keep in mind that while we do not observe holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, or Veterans Day in our worship, we have no objections to people observing them in their homes, work places, etc.
