Importance of repentance otherwise hindered growth This sermon is excellent for anyone who is struggling with ongoing sinfulness which is stunting growth in grace.
A call to prayer Pastor Donnelly's careful, legitimate, and devastating parallels between Judah and the United Kingdom ought to shake us from our sloth and ease, and set us praying and working for the glory of God in our nation. We need soberly to consider the present realities and more awful prospects of judgement set out in this sermon, that they might draw forth from us a righteous and repentant response.
A call to faithfulness This sermon demonstrates Pastor Donnelly's ability to provide a penetrating analysis in brief scope, supplying a sobering but accurate assessment of our present condition and need, with insightful and powerful application of God's truth to the days in which we live. The preacher's honesty and earnestness call us to prayerful reflection and principled action. Anyone who preaches or teaches God's Word would do well carefully to consider these lessons from Jeremiah.
Very helpful sermon A heart-searching challenge and yet a wonderful portrayal of God's faithfulness to us even amidst our waywardness. One felt that what we were being challenged to do was, by God's grace, achievable.
Urgent plea for national repentance This 2nd sermon in the Jeremiah series is an important plea for repentance in our nations today. Especially important is the way in which Donnelly connects the ingratitude, irrationality and insensitivity of Judah to our similar treatment of God. How easy it is for us to have other gods before the one true God.
By way of suggestion, it is helpful to have the Scripture reading included in the broadcast so that the listener can always hear the reading of the passage. Many listen in cars or while doing various activities and cannot read the passage.
Wonderful Lecture I've grown to appreciate Edward Donelly immensely both as a preacher and a writer because of his ability to convey scripture truth in a way that is both easy to understand and yet thoughtful and stirring. This series is a great example of this ability, in my opinion it's one of the best summaries of the issues surrounding baptism and regardless of whether you agree with Donelly, it provides a clear explanation of why Presbyterians believe that God has commanded believers should baptize their children.
Great overview and introduction to Jeremiah Seeing that Ted Donnelly's sermons are on Sermon Audio was the highlight of my week, and will probably be the best Christmas gift I receive. I am planning to listen through the Jeremiah series.
This sermon was a great encouragement to preach the word, even the word of judgment and difficulty. Praise God for the ministry of this preacher.
