Great Sermon! Gary interesting sermon some points to consider regarding the mode.
1. Baptizo is not always used to discribe immersion, see Mark 7 how do we immerse a table in a pot?
Heb 9. where baptizo is used to describe sprinklings of the heifer?
2. The translators obviously transliterated because the word didnt describe what the was taking place.
3.I dont believe the translators of the KJV would compromise their integrity to satisfy the establishment.
4.History clearly shows that sprinkling and pouring was used very early in church history.
5. Baptism is symbolic! Like when the Iraelites where baptised into Moses and they did not get wet.
I was immersed as an adult, but I hold that if someone desires pouring or sprinkling this should not be a point of separation.
Thanks for you great sermons.
Great Sermon! This was an excellent sermon! I was very, very troubled by a recent 'heated' e-mail conversation between a so called christian and I. They really blasted me for pushing the word on them. This sermon really helped and corrected me! I really appreciate Pastor Barkman's tone and staying steadfast to the word. We need more preachers like Pastor Barkman. I'm glad for the MacArthurs, Devers, Sprouls, Daveys, Beggs and Barkmans of the day!!! May God continue to abundantly bless your ministry =)!!!
Excellent! The growing de-emphasis on the Word of God in our day and age is addressed in this brief, but complete, radio message. Pastor Barkman says the Bible is everything God intended to say to men. He doesn't say it's impossible for God to speak beyond His Word today, but that such occurrences are exceedingly rare! He asks: Why would God speak to a person directly when everything He has intended to tell mankind is in the Bible?
There's more ... tune in and be blessed!!
Good Sermon! Great Point: God wants us to understand EVERY word.
Interesting that the reference verse here is John 19:30:An example of why Pastor Barkman preaches from the King James: "Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar..."
In Jn 19:29/30 TNIV & other modern versions completely mistranslate this verse, dropping out some words, and adding others. The higher critics failed to substitute wine for vinegar in this verse, as they did in Matt. 27:34 (more below ). There they confused three separate offerings of drink to the Savior: (1) wine drugged with myrrh, which He would not taste; (2) vinegar mingled with gall, which He tasted and would not drink; (3) then six hours later, vinegar in sponge was lifted up on the top of a reed, and He drank, then it was that He exclaimed, It is finished!
In Matt.27:34 they gave Him vinegar mingled with gall - an obvious reference to Psalm 69:21, where it is decidedly vinegar and gall that are mentioned but Aleph, B, D, K. L. Pi and 13 cursives have wine(oinon) for vinegar(oxos). Burgon proves the King James correct citing multiple church fathers. The other 5000 Gk. texts are upheld in KJV's "vinegar".
Great Sermon! A wise perspective of the limits of the English language. The English language changes, I have seen an older version of the KJV, and most people could not read some of the words because the way Britain printed some of the letters back in even the 1800s, were different from how they print them today. Good perspective, and we can use KJV and other conservative translations today.
Good sermon Good message. I would have added that salvation is by faith and that faith must be preceeded by and followed by repentance. I appreciate you Brother and pray that the Lord will bless His ministry with you.
Great Sermon! Great teaching on Romans 6:23. I love how Brother Barkman shows the difference between wages and a gift. I will be using this when we go out street witnessing and door knocking. God bless you richly brother and your ministry...
In Christ...Wayne...
Great Broadcast! This sermon is a balanced examination of the role of the 400+ year old KJV and modern translations for modern believers today. Worthwhile to listen to, and very refreshing in light of some of the rhetoric on this issue. A good contribution to the topic.
An Excellent Study! Thank you for this excellent Bible study. When God opens your spiritual eyes, these great truths become so simple and clear it seems...but it took me many years
to see the true Light of an eternal justification by the imputed righteousness of Christ received by faith alone!
Excellent! Excellent study! Amen! Thank you! For many years I was ignorant of God's imputed righteousness for our eternal justification in the sight of God...Romans 10:3 Â ...For they being ignorant of God's (imputed) righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God...
The same with the doctrine of election... It was there in the Scriptures all the time, but it took me years to see it with the "eyes of faith", and apply it to my own heart and life.
Good Bible Study! This is an excellent study! Thank you!
Those who listen to Family Radio and are not sure how a sinner is justified in the sight of God by the imputed Righteousness of Christ alone (received by faith alone) should listen to this interesting Bible study!
Yes, faith is the gift of God -
freely given to all true believers!
