What would bring contentment? Pastor Price asks: What is the one thing that would make you content in this life? What would finally put an end to all of your murmuring, complaining, self-pity and coveting? A good paying job? A beautiful home? No more bills? A loving husband or submissive wife? Health? Wealth? Fame? If you have to have any of those things (or anything else) in order to be content, then you will never know contentment in this life. If you try to find joy and contentment in the things of this world, then you will find that they are all fleeting, here today and gone tomorrow. You either choose to look to persons or things in this life as the source of your joy, or you choose to be content by looking to the Lord Jesus Christ alone as the source of your joy. You can never blame your lack of contentment or lack of joy on not having certain things in this life. Because joy, contentment and peace are the gifts and privileges of those who fully trust in God. When Christ is seen in every circumstance of life, how can you not be content?
Cut off from the Word of God Among the important points in this sermon is that the worst type of drought and famine that can fall upon a land (especially a covenanted nation that has known the preaching and proclamation of God's Word), is not a drought of rain that destroys crops and dries up wells, but is rather a drought of God's Word that destroys souls, and dries up the souls of men. But that is a drought that God brings upon nations that reject Him. He takes from them the faithful preaching of the Word of God. And when men's souls dry up, then all manner of abomination and rebellion and sinning inevitably follow. This is what we see more and more happening within this covenanted nation. God is cutting off more and more the faithful preaching of His Word. And what we see filling the void is foolishness in churches. This means that God is showing His anger and His judgment.
Thankfulness in all things As Pastor Price explains, in everything that you face in your life, you are able to give thanks because the sovereign and good hand of God is at work bringing to pass His most wise and holy plan for His glory, and even for your good in those circumstances. Even if it is awful what you are facing, even if it is painful, even if there is heartache, trial, suffering, the reason that you are to give thanks to God is because He has ordained that and He is working in that situation, whatever it is.
Desire for vengeance is a sin As Pastor Price explains so well, the desire for personal vengeance is a grievous sin that is rooted in pride and self-righteousness. This is a much-needed sermon that encourages listeners to look to Christ and die to self.
Great Sermon! Luke 16:18
18Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
Romans 7:1-4
1Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? 2For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. 3So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
1Corinthains
10And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
39The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
All remarriage is adultery
Important Sermon on Obedience to God This sermon addresses the difficult truth that sometimes obedience to God may involve incurring the wrath of other people, even family members and friends.
Important truth for the Christian life An excellent sermon on the need to remain faithful to God and His truth by avoiding alliances with the ungodly that would seemingly bring outward benefits
Encouragement when facing trials This is a powerful and encouraging sermon directing Christians to look to God alone for deliverance from severe trials.
This Pastor Greg Price is one upright man. You can't Preach this stuff till you personally own it. He definitely spent some time in The Lord's Woodshed.
Great Sermon! If we took covenant-breaking more seriously, would we make a more serious inquiry into the relationship of the Solemn League and Covenant to our nations today, and perhaps even consider whether the judgments which are befalling us are in consequence of our covenant-breaking?
Great Sermon! The U.S. is a troubled nation facing many serious problems, and many believe its very existence is under threat. Could it be that we are under the judgment of God for our covenant breaking?
Great Sermon! This sermon offers clear and convincing evidence that the United States is the same moral person as the British colonies which existed before the Declaration of Independence, and is therefore still bound by the Solemn League and Covenant!
Great Sermon! More historical considerations bearing on the relationship of the Solemn League and Covenant to the American colonies. If we owned Magna Carta, why not the SL&C?
Great Sermon! A crucial sermon in this series as it contains information showing the relationship of the people of the United States to the Solemn League and Covenant!
