Great truth. This is encouraging. Servants unknown before men are known before the Lord. He saved them, He gives them grace to serve and He rewards them.
Great comfort. I needed a message like this. The reminder of the Lord's presence in our most discouraging times is a great comfort. What a great truth: the Lord Jesus can bring us instantaneously to the point where we couldn't get with all our efforts!
Great lesson. This message touched my heart. It was a very good reminder: there is now turning back from the way God showed us. There is blessing only in submission to Him.
Some thoughts. The central theme of this sermon is the danger for the child of God to listen to advises from worldly people, coming from carnal motives. But I do not think that Exodus 18 tells that Jethro spake from carnal wisdom, contrary to God's will, and that Moses was wrong in following his advise. The text does not tell us Jethro was wrong. More, Jethro says to Moses in verse 23 to follow his advise only if God tell him to do so. Concerning Jethro, is seems that he went to Canaan with all his family (Num. 10:31-32; Judges 1:16 and 4:11). At least, his sons were among the people of God. I would interpret differently Numbers 11 as well, not as Moses again erring because of Jethro's bad advise. I think God used Jethro's advise to teach Moses and the calling of judges was the will of God for the better judging of His people.
Great Sermon! My husband and I were greatly blessed and encouraged by the Lord on hearing this sermon.
My family and I will be visiting Tasmania Hobart in Dec and Lord willing will attend the evening church service at 4pm on Sun 21Dec 2014.
Much needed sermon these days! A much needed reminder to worship the Lord as he directs us. There is blessing for our children in our obedience to this second command...what a thought!
Very useful. Very good, relevant and needed message. There is a great lack of discernment in so called evangelical churches regarding this commandment. May God bless this message with fruits!
