The elder as God's steward is to possess a reputation of a man governed by the love of God. This characteristic of love in the elder is manifested in two ways: hospitality and loving what is good. In so doing, the elder provides a Christlike example to the flock of God of selfless love to friend and stranger, and a mindset that seeks to glorify God in word and deed.
