Having made the case for Christ as the Messiah King, now in chapter 3 Matthew begins to take us into the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. He once again uses Holy Scripture to affirm what is happening in real time. John the Baptist came to prepare the way of the Lord. This implies that people should hear and be prepared for the coming of Christ. The way John prepared the way of the Lord was through preaching God's Word. And this is still the way the Lord works in us today, through the preaching and hearing of God's word. May the Lord be preparing you to meet with HIm this coming Lord's Day.
