If you talk to someone who makes decisions by Bible diving, using fleeces, interpreting circumstances and impressions, they will invariably say it was the right thing to do because such things were confirmed. Having personal, internal peace is especially important.
But is this proper? Is it biblical? In this lesson, we examine the two prooftexts for this view. In both cases, the context shows that the peace in Colossians 3 and Philippians 4 does not have to do with making decisions but with peace in the church and dealing with the sin of anxiety.
Besides looking at the proof texts, we also point out several practical problems of this view of guidance, including the impossibility of extending this decision-making mode to the daily, routine choices of life.
