Acts 15:1-21 – The Yoke of the Ceremonial Law – Sermon Outline
Intro: Christ has come, atoned for sin, and is saving Jews and Gentiles. What happens to the laws connected to Temple worship and the regulations upon God's people prior to Christ's coming? Need: The Jewish converts did not grasp that Gentiles, and they themselves, had greater freedom in their lives now that Christ had atoned for sin and fulfilled the demands of the Ceremonial laws under Moses.
Theme: The Church Recognizes Christ has fulfilled the Laws related to Temple worship.
1. Dispute of whether Gentile converts must be circumcised & keep Israel's laws under Moses. (1-5) 2. Debate & declaration that God is saving & filling the Gentiles with His Spirit by faith in Christ. (6-12) 3. Resolution to tell Gentile Christians they are free from circumcision & Mosaic law under Christ. (13-21)
