At one time the GARBC was a very sound Fundamental group, and I was curious as to why they left the King James. When I was saved at college in the mid-80s, the GARBC church I attended was still using the King James from the pulpit, but there were rifts in the church. I did have a very wonderful foundation, and I praise the Lord for that!! Historically, the GARBC were separated fundamentalists having come out of the Northern Baptist Convention compromises around the turn of the previous century. I am remembering their strong fundamental, and separatist stance as I read about it, but there were influences that led them down the wrong path—SOMETHING HAPPENED: they began questioning the King James Bible. I want to read this Scripture passage so we will think about what God says about the man that delights in His Word. Psalms 1:1-6 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
