Why do we study the Bible? We start with the premise that the Bible is true. The Bible is God's word and it contains truth with no mixture of error.
The Bible is God's word and He gave it to people. 2 Peter 1 God created everything and owns everything. We accept God's word as the authority over every area of life. Through the Bible we come to know God.
Here are 5 reasons why we study the Bible.
1) God is speaking, we need to listen. God has spoken and He has told us that He is still speaking today through His word, the Bible. His word is alive and He is speaking to us now.
2) The Bible is entirely true and we can trust what His word says because He is trust worthy. Our attitude toward the word of God should be that we count on God's word and believe it. God's word challenges all of us to change our bad habits and repent and change to do what His word says.
3) As we study the Bible, it challenges us and changes our minds and makes us wise. God's word will make us wise.
4) The Bible is God's tool to help us get to know Jesus. John 5:39 If we do not study the scriptures to get to know God better, we are not studying the scriptures correctly.
5) God will show up and be with us if we study His word. Was we study / desire to know God, He will show up and explain His word. The evidence is constantly saying that there is a God and He is wise and available.
