John 19:25-30
Jesus is the King
Part V: The King's Work is Finished
The King's work is finished.
He cares for His mother (24b-27)
“Woman, behold your son!” (26)
“Behold, your mother!” (27)
He gives up His spirit (28-30)
“I thirst” (28-29)
“It is finished” (30)
Applications:
1. Care for loved ones: We must care for our relatives
2. “Care from the cross”: But, we must care for our relatives while continuing the other missions
that God has given us (Jesus did not leave the cross to care for Mary!)
3. Mission accomplishment: Jesus completed the work of our salvation—totally and finally...and so must we!
SEVEN SAYINGS OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS
1: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)
2: “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43)
3: "Woman, behold, your son!" "Behold, your mother!" (John 19:26-27)
4: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Mt 27:46; Mk 15:34)
5: "I thirst.” (John 19:28)
6: "It is finished" (John 19:30)
