We note this morning the last three verses of this letter. Peter concludes his letter in similar fashion as the apostle Paul closed his letters and in some degree in the same way of other letters in the ancient world. But Peter's conclusion is not merely a formality, but a final opportunity to exhort and testify to his readers about the grace of God. The message of these final three verses is similar to that of the entire book: Stand together in the true grace of God. Here is another reminder of our individual duty as well as the love that unites us together in the service of Christ and in His peace. First from verse 12a, Silvanus, our faithful brother. Second from verse 12b, the purpose of this letter. Third from verse 13, other faithful servants. And finally, from verse 14, a final command and blessing, in preparation for communion.
