Who goes to heaven when they die? If you ask people outside the church that question you are bound to get a host of different answers, but usually they say something all the lines of 'good people'.
Paul's surprising answer to that question though is not that a non-existent class of person (inherently good people)goes to heaven, but that people who have failed to be good and obey God's laws, and who know it, go to heaven. Only these people who were in and of themselves sinners go to heaven.
