This whole season of David's life reminds us of how Christian thinkers describe the present stage of the Church's life on earth – that we're living in the overlap of two ages – the old creation is fading and the new creation is dawning and even today as we live in this overlap we see signs/evidence of both ages. Theologians call this "wrinkle in time" – "the already and the not- yet" or the "now and the not-yet". God's going to renew the earth/universe (new heavens and new earth) and we see some of the renewal already but the old, fallen creation persists. We're "going to reign" and already enthroned with Christ (Eph 2.6) but right now we don't look like kings and queens. Let's look at: 1. A Time of Tension 2. A Shelter In the Storm 3. An Outlook for the Overlap
