Today were going to start a new series covering slavery in the Bible. I intend on covering every angle of this topic before were done and give you Christians more answers to tough questions. This is a major point of contention to the secular world and we want to be able to make a good defense of the Christian faith. Questions we will answer in this series include • What does the Bible say about slavery? • Does the Bible condone slavery? • Is biblical slavery oppressive? • Why doesn't the Bible explicitly condemn or forbid slavery? • Does the Bible support raping slaves? • Does the Bible condone holding slaves as property? • Is it ok to beat your slave as long as he doesn't die for a few days? Exodus 21:20-21 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
