This psalm is an affirmation of faith---a monument to a state of mind of utter confidence in God. In many other psalms, the psalmist's faith seems to waver---fluctuating between desperation and trust, but here, it is all trust. This message contrasts the way of the ungodly (they attack the innocent, scheme, lie and act as hypocrits) with the way the godly are called to respond to them.
Along the way, we look at some of the ways the ungodly continue to attack the innocent today, such as attacks on pro-life ministries. We also consider lies that are told in our day, for example, regarding the theory of evolution, and quote prominent evolutionists: One of them, L. T. More of the University of Chicago, has been quoted as saying: 'Our faith in the idea of evolution depends upon our reluctance to accept the antagonistic doctrine of special creation.'
