Acts 12:18-24 – A Battle of Glories – Sermon Outline Intro: Man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Failure to do so leads to damnation forever. Need: The righteous will overcome the wicked in Christ by His power, but the wicked will be overcome by God's power. This happens through many battles of mind, body, and soul, requiring faith, wisdom, humility, and hope. Theme: Wicked earthly powers are crushed by God's glorious power.
1. Herod kills his soldiers who cannot explain how Peter escaped prison. (18-19) 2. Herod clothes himself like a god and is praised as a god by Tyre and Sidon. (20-22) 3. Herod is struck by the Lord's angel and eaten by worms for not giving God glory. (23-24)
