Laodicea was an ancient city by the Lycus River valley in Asia Minor (Turkey of today), and it was one of the three cities at this valley mentioned by Paul in Colossians 4:13.
"For I bear him witness that he (Epaphras from Colossae) has worked hard for you and for those in Laodicea and in Hierapolis."

It was a very rich town famous for banking and textile industry especially wool cloth and fashion products. Ancient sources say that the city was founded in honor of Laodice, the wife of Seleucid King Antiochus II, in the third century B.C. It lies in the trade route of the ancient Romans roads and that was one of the secrets of its success.
In 2020 they unearthed a house with 18 columns and many rooms, 2 halls and a meeting place for Christian worship showing wealthy Christian families lived there. This is one of the oldest house churches in the history of Christianity.
That is going with the warning of the Lord to this church Revelation 3:17, "For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked."
