Last Lord's Day, we spoke of the bad example of Aaron as a leader, who though he was the high priest, yet led Israel astray after idols.
But Christ is a better high priest for His people, and He provides a perfect example of leadership. All those who follow after Him will walk in paths of Righteousness, and will never be ashamed.
The Lord Jesus offers Godly leaders a pattern to follow.
First, Christ's leadership was a sacrifice of service, not a tale of personal enrichment. He left His Father's Throne above. Though He was rich, yet for our sakes He became poor.
Second, the Lord Jesus as our leader was Himself following after the will of His Father. Indeed, His example of following God's Word is our example of how we ought to follow hard after Him.
Third, the Lord was willing to suffer terribly in following His Father's will because of the Joy set before Him. So too we must take up our Cross and be willing to sacrifice if we are to follow Him, looking for that great Glory which shall be revealed in us.
Oh for Godly leaders who follow after the pattern that Christ has set for leadership!
Finally, the Lord Jesus wouldn't allow His people to follow Him into judgment - He went to the Cross alone in our place. He went to suffer wrath and judgment for our guiltiness that He might lead us to salvation and freedom.
