In Jeremiah’s day Judah had fallen into deep sin and idolatry.
Babylon had invaded Judah in his day and there was terrible consequences. Worldly Babylon has invaded us in our day and there are terrible consequences..
Jeremiah is called the Weeping Prophet. Jeremiah loved his nation and loved his people. He saw the sin of his people and he saw the captivity of his people and he wept over a nation that had gone astray.
The Lord’s flock was carried away captive in his day and Im afraid much of the Lords flock today is carried away captive to the World. There is Apostasy in the Pulpits and apathy in the pew.
God had a purpose for Jeremiah and that was to be a prophet to the nations. You know I believe God has a calling on everyone’s life. God’s call goes out to all men for salvation. He beams out the knowledge of His existence throughout all of creation. His call goes out to the ends of the earth for salvation.
The Lord Jesus gave His life for the sins of the World as a Propitiation.
God desires that all are saved and God’s desire is that when you are saved that you would serve Him. How sad that so many do not respond to God? God could look through the halls of time knowing of Jeremiah’s future existence before he was even born. It was God that formed him inside his mother’s womb.
God sanctified Jeremiah in the womb for Himself. God set him apart for His service.
Before He was even formed in His Mothers womb, God knew him and before he came into the world, God separated him and planned that He would be a prophet. God knows us before we are even born.
